Leigh Bardugo’s Grishaverse is such a rich and fascinating world, I knew I wanted to make a kefta as soon as I started reading about the,. Zoya though took much longer for me to love. Seeing her grow really resonated, and having a group of friends all working on these was lovely.
As much as I loved the design of the Keftas in Shadow and Bone, I knew I wanted to put my own spin on the shape to be a style I prefer. The pieced applique is symmetrical, against my better judgement, but it was so worth it, and still considerably less time than if I had embroidered the whole thing.
