How to Train Your Dragon 2
The amount of edits this costume has gone through. I still use some of the original parts from around 2015 to this day, and others have gone through 4 or 5 iterations. Astrid was the first time I watched something and was like I want to make THAT. She’s the start of my cosplay journey, the costume full of so many firsts, and incredibly precious to me. There will be more upgrades in the future, it’s going to take a lot for me to retire her.
I originally planned to shoot with Zero Light in Wellington in 2020, but I was unable to finish the costume in time. When I knew her was coming to Icon two years later, I absolutely jumped at the opportunity to make this happen, and I’m so glad I did. Shooting atop Kunanyi/Mt Wellington was a dream, albeit freezing, and such a treasured memory. The upgraded skirt and gifted axe (Lighthawk Cosplay) really made a big difference, and I’m looking forward to see what her next iteration brings.
